Abstract

The oilseed Brassica species are the most important rabi oilseed crop. Albugo candida (A. cruciferum) the cause of the white rust/white blister of the rapeseed and mustard occurs in all cruciferous growing countries. The disease is characterized by bothlocal and systemic symptom expression. Among various disease management practices, breeding for resistant genotype/varieties is one of the most ecofriendly, economic and effective method. The present study was conducted to study the differential responses of Brassica genotypes to six isolates of Albugo candida at true leaf stage which will pave the way for the development of resistant variety against white rust and selection of host differentials for the identification of pathogenic races of A. candida. On the basis of disease indices the Brassica genotypes were grouped in to susceptible, moderately susceptible, and highly resistant using the average disease indexdata against different Albugo candida isolates.
