Abstract

This experiment was conducted by Horticultural college and research institute, TNAU, Periyakulam at Pandiyan Farms, Kottur, Theni District during the year 2012–13. This trial was laid out in a Factorial Randomized Block Design with twenty treatments in two replications. Twenty year old uniform sized trees of mango cv. Alphonso spaced at 9 x 9 m were selected for this experiment. Paclobutrazol (Cultar-23 SC) was applied as a soil drench at concentrations of 0, 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75 g a.i. m−2 of canopy diameter. The treatment was imposed at the third week of different months viz., July, August, September, October and November. The results indicated that soil drenching of paclobutrazol at 0.75 g a.i. m−2 of canopy diameter during the month of September was effective in increasing C: N ratio, total phenols, soluble protein, number of hermaphrodite flowers panicle−1, total number of flowers panicle−1, and yield tree−1.
