Successful viticulture requires optimum supply of nutrients to ensure flowering, fruit set and quality. Pruning the grape vines for optimum cropping is the most sensible method to maintain the balance between growth and production. The present investigation was conducted to study the nutrient status of the vine, yield and quality attributes as influenced by various pruning levels in grape (Vitis vinifera L.) cv. Italia at College Orchard, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during December, 2012 – January, 2014. Different pruning levels viz., 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% pruning of canes for crop were imposed in two different seasons namely summer and winter season crop. The results revealed that, the treatment pruning 50% of the canes for crop yield and 50% of the canes for vegetative growth was found to perform better in both the seasons.
