Effect of Different Varieties and Fertilizer Doses on Stem Fly and Girdle Beetle of Soybean

The present investigation was carried out to study the effect of different varieties and fertilizer doses on stem fly and girdle beetle. Results of pooled averages revealed that the variety JS 93–05 and the interaction of variety JS 93–05 with fertilizer dose 30:75:00, 15:50:00 or 50:100:30 proved effective in managing the population of stem fly on soybean. While the variety JS 93–05 and AMS 99–33 and interaction of variety JS 93–05 with fertilizer dose 30:75:00 or 15:50:00 proved effective in managing the population of girdle beetle on soybean. Population fluctuation studies on natural enemies like lady bird beetle and spider revealed that the variety JS 335, AMS 99–33 and the interaction of variety JS 335 with fertilizer dose 50:100:30 and 15:50:00 recorded highest population of lady bird beetle and spider were proved safer in increasing the population of lady bird beetle and spider. The results regarding the yield revealed that the variety JS 9305, AMS 99–33 with fertilizer dose of 30:75:00, 15:50:00 or 50:100:30 proved effective in recording maximum pods/plant and also record the higher yield.
