Abstract

The combustion analysis of coconut husk as an energy source for copra drying was investigated in this study. The combustion behavior of coconut husk was analyzed using FactSage, a thermo chemical software and database at various air to fuel ratios of 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2. The thermo chemical software analysis resulted in formation of 77 elements during combustion of coconut husk, in which 6 are the major elements and all other elements are very negligible in amount. The theoretical maximum temperature based on enthalpy change was also estimated for various air to fuel ratios. The air to fuel ratio during combustion of coconut husk had significant effect on composition and flame temperature of the product.
