Meloidogyne incognita is a polyphagous nematode and prefers to feedmore on dicotyledonous plants as compared to monocots. Among dicotyledons, greater preference (41.16%) was reflected towards herbaceae (plants derived from herbaceous stock) than lignosae (31.16%) (plants derived from woody stock). Monocots shared 21.68% plants out of 1098 host species. Phylogenetic line Dilleniales—Rosales— Leguminales was most prominent in lignosae, while 5 such lineages were observed in herbaceae. In monocots, Glumiflorales contributed large number of host species and majority of them were from Poaceae. Race-I and Race-III infested more plant species than Race-II and Race-IV. Most virulent race was Race-V (acrita).
