A field trial was conducted during kharif, 2012 at Banaras Hindu University research farm, Varanasi, to study bioefficacy of certain newer insecticides against brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens in rice. The trials were laid in RBD with eight insecticidal treatments including control, replicated thrice. The overall performance of various spraying insecticidal treatments based on per cent increase in grain yield over control. In that treatment with Fipronil 200 SC @ 50g a.i./ha was the most effective and significantly superior over all other treatments in reducing 80.50 per cent. Fipronil 200 SC @ 40g a.i./ha stood second in order of effectiveness which recorded 77.57 percent. The Chloropyriphos 20 EC @ 250g a.i./ha proved least effective in which 32.84 per cent were observed.
