Abstract

An experiment was carried out to fabricate nano formulation of pendimethalin herbicide for slow release using direct encapsulation technique with MnCO3 microcapsules. Manganese carbonate nano core was prepared by using MnSO4 and NH4HCO3 solutions. Thus prepared nano core template was used for preparing nano formulation of pendimethalin. The mono dispersed herbicide molecules were loaded on to the nano core and covered with layer by layer (LBL) adsorption of opposite charge polyelectrolyte. Thus prepared encapsulated pendimethalin slow release formulation was characterized using scanning electron microscope (SEM), SEM-EDX, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer (FT-IR), Particle size analyzer and Raman spectroscopy. The SEM-EDX and FT-IR results shows that the carbon and oxygen peak which represents the presence of active ingredientinside the MnCO3 core.
