Effect of Fungicides on Growth of Colletotrichum capsici BUTLER & BISBY, under in vitro Condition

Abstract

In Vitro fungicidal activity of six fungicides namely Cabrio, Tilt, Bavistin, Indofil M-45, Kavach, and Antracol were studied at four different concentrations viz. 100 ppm, 150 ppm 200 ppm and 250 ppm against mycelia growth of Colletotrichum capsici, the causal agent of anthracnose of chilli fruits, and the EC50 value of the respective fungicides were determined. The experiment was designed and analysed in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The fungus was isolated from young lesion of affected ripe chilli fruit of farmer's field at Harringhata, Nadia West Bengal. Among the six fungicides Cabrio was found to be most effective with 100% inhibition at 250 ppm followed by Propiconazole (90%) Carbendazim (61.1%), (Chlorothalonil (40.0%), Mancozeb (38.0%), and Propineb (26.8%) over control after 7 days of incubation period. EC50 (ppm) value of Cabrio, Tilt, Bavistin, Kavach, Antracol and Indofil M-45 were 125.89, 128.8,190.54, 435.51, 524.80 and 570.16, respectively.
