Inheritance of seed weight was studied in 45 crosses in F1 and F2 generations of 10 diverse parents of black gram developed in a diallel fashion for two consecutive years 2012 and 2013. A predominant role of non-additive gene action was observed in the inheritance of this trait in both the generation during both the years. Heritability estimate was low in F1 (2012), moderate in F1 (2012) and F2 (2013) and high in F2 (2013), expected genetic advance was low, KU 91 was good parents of high X low and low x low general combining ability.
