The present investigation was carried out with two popular soybean varieties viz., Co (Soy) 3 and JS 335 to study the effect of five male gametocides viz., GA3, ethrel, maleic hydrazide (MH), salicylic acid (SA) and a synthetic detergent on the flowering behavior of soybean. Significant differences in days to 50% flowering were noticed upon application of gametocides. Number of days for 50 per cent flowering decreased with the application of GA3 and SA over control and increased with application of ethrel and MH. Lower number of days for 50 per cent flowering was recorded with 500 ppm on 15+20+25+30 DAS in variety JS 335. Number of days for flowering was increased with four sprays of all three concentrations of MH (1100, 1300 & 1500 ppm) at 25+30+35+40 DAS in Co (Soy) 3. The days to 50% flowering in synthetic detergent treated plants are similar to that of control plants.
