Root systems are one of the important components of drought resistance. Heritability estimates along with genetic advance will be helpful in predicting the gain under selection. The differences between PCV and GCV were less for all the characters except relative water content. Among the 18 traits studied, 14 traits recorded high heritability with genetic advance. The highest value of heritability was observed by single plant yield and genetic advance for the trait root length density
