Abstract

The present paper investigates the variations in physicochemical characteristics of sewage and waste material fed Dahaura Tal from Fakharpur, Bahraich district Uttar Pradesh. To assess the impact of agricultural and domestic effluents on the water quality, twelve Physico-chemical parameters (pH, Temperature, Total Solids, Total Dissolved Solids, Dissolved Oxygen, Total Alkalinity, Total Hardness, Calcium, Magnesium, Chloride, Nitrate and Sulphate) were analyzed and their variations are discussed. All the parameters were compared with standard values, which are recommended by Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS). It was observed that the pollutant receiving water body appears as an aquatic desert which is unsuitable for aquatic biota and domestic uses.
