Dipping unripe mango fruits in paraquat at 1000–3000 ppm concentration revealed anthracnose symptoms with in 5–7 days, as against control fruits, which remained green and apparently healthy. Anthracnose symptoms were expressed by fruits of all the four mango varieties used in the study – Neelum, Alphonso, Bangalora and Banganapalli, although the number of lesions varied with the concentration and variety tested. However, at higher concentrations of 4000 and 5000 ppm, paraquat was toxic to the fruits.
