Abstract

A Field experiment was laid outin randomized block design with nine treatments including untreated control replicated four times. Efficacy of new and commonly recommended insecticides against defoliators and stem borers of soybean was recorded from field during kharif 2007. Soybean variety JS-335 was sown on 03rd July 2007. The crop management practices (i.e. field preparation, sowing, weeding, fertilizer application etc.) were adopted as per the recommended practices. All new insecticides viz. Ryaxpyr 20SC, spinosad 45 SC, methomyil 40 SP and recommended insecticide Triazophos 40 EC and quinalphos 25 EC were found equally effective against grey semilooper in reducing the larval population on soybean. Ryaxpyr 20SC @ 150ml/ha, spinosad 45 SC@187.5ml/ha, methomyil 40 SP @1 kg/ha, Triazophos 40 EC @ 800ml/ha were found more toxic and recorded crop free from larval population of grey and green semilooper at 5 days after treatments (DAT). Ryaxpyr 20SC, spinosad 45 SC, methomyil 40 SP and Triazophos 40 EC were found effective against stem fly and girdle beetle infestation. Quinalphos 25 EC @ 1.5ltr/ha recorded highest grain yield of 2025.00kg/ha in all the experiments.
