Abstract

The enzyme cellulase, a multi enzyme complex made up of several proteins, catalyses the conversion of cellulose to glucose in an enzymatic hydrolysis. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of growth conditions and medium composition on the cellulase as well as xylanase production by Amylomyces rouxii (WF3) Production of cellulase enzyme by a Amylomyces rouxii WF3 was detected on fungus cellulase medium after 4 days of incubation at 30°C and at pH 5.0. Cellulase as well as as xylanase activity was assayed by measuring the amount of glucose and xylose liberated in ìmol/ml/min by using the dinitrosalicylic acid assay method. The highest cellulase activity 1.72 IU/ml and 10.52 IU/ml of xylanase activity was achieved after optimizing all the process parameters for enhanced enzyme activity. Due to its particular characteristics this enzyme will be used in saccharification process for bioethanol production from plant biomasses.
