Abstract

Two poly peptide bands with relative migration 0.58 and 0.72 are present only in the susceptible varieties viz. CSH9 and DJ-6514 that can be used as reliable markers in ascertaining the introgression of resistant genes. Similarly the protein bands with relative migration 0.57 and 0.93 are present in all low and medium susceptible varieties except the susceptible checks. These bands can be used in marker assisted introgression of the resistant genes in two genotypes devoid of this protein expressing. These protein markers can also be used to monitor crosses of resistant genotypes and nature of inheritance of resistance.
