A field experiment was carried at Regional Agricultural Research Station, UAS, Raichur with three pigeonpea genotypes in four planting geometries under rainfed situation. The seed yield and protein yield produced by genotype BSMR-736 (1308 kg ha−1 and 2.85 q ha−1, respectively) was found to be significantly higher than the seed yield and protein yield obtained by TS-3R (1125 kg ha−1 and 2.39 q ha−1, respectively) and which was on par with ICPL-85063 (1146 kg ha−1 and 2.45 q ha−1, respectively). The extent of reduction in seed yield by TS3R and ICPL-85063 was 16 and 14 percent when compared to BSMR-736, respectively. Among spacings, spacing of 90 x 20 cm recorded significantly higher seed yield (1289 kg ha−1) when compared to other spacings tried viz., 120 x 20 cm (1231 kg ha−1), 120 x 60 cm (1151 kg ha−1) and 120 x 90 cm (1100 kg ha−1). Genotypes BSMR-736 recorded significantly higher net returns (1 28626 ha−1) and BC ratio (2.64) as compared to TS-3R and ICPL-85063. Among different Planting geometry 90 x 20 cm recorded significantly higher seed yield (1289 kg ha−1) and net returns (1 26154 ha−1) when compared to rest of spacings.
