Field experiment was conducted during kharif season in farmer field at Marakadadoddi village, Maddur taluk, Mandya, (Karnataka) to study the effect of different cultivars and INM practices on dry matter production, yield and nutrient uptake in aerobic rice. The results revealed that significantly higher grain yield was recorded in cultivar KRH-2 (60.2 q ha−1) than BR-2655 (55.5 q ha−1) and the lowest grain yield was obtained with IR-30864 (50.8 q ha−1). KRH-2 also recorded higher dry matter production (99.33 g hill−1). The higher total dry matter accumulation hill−1 (121.32 g), number of tillers hill−1 (43.41), leaf area hill−1 (3462.5 cm2), leaf area index (3.85), leaf area duration (132.56 days) and grain yield (63.1 q ha1) was recorded in aerobic rice with application of 50 per cent N through inorganic fertilizer + 50 per cent N through vermicompost (N4) as compared to N5, N3, N2and N1. Maximum nutrient uptake was observed in KRH-2 (142.76 kg nitrogen ha−1, 59.08 kg P ha−1 and 136.99 kg K ha−1) compared to other cultivars like BR-2655 and IR-30864. KRH-2 recorded more nutrient uptake (142.76 kg nitrogen ha−1, 59.08 kg P ha−1 and 136.99 kg K ha−1) than BR-2655 and IR-30864. In case of different nutrient combinations N4 noticed more nutrient uptake (134.4 kg nitrogen ha−1, 43.4 kg P ha−1 and 177.4 kg K ha−1) than other nutrient combinations.
