Socio Economic Characteristics of Tank Irrigated Farmers in Tamil Nadu

The present study was conducted in ten districts of five Agro Climatic Zones of Tamil Nadu to assess the attitude of tank irrigated farmers towards climate change. The study is based on 300 farmers were randomly selected from twenty blocks of ten districts in five Agro climatic zones of Tamil Nadu. The aimed to analyse the socio economic characteristics of tank irrigated farmers. The revealed that farmers were middle aged, studied upto primary level, had medium family size, had high farming experience, practiced farming and worked as wage earners, marginal farmers, had moderate income, material possession, risk orientation, credit orientation, economic motivation, contact with extension agency, mass media exposure, innovative proneness and social participation.
