Abstract

The present experiment was conducted at vegetable research Farm, Department of Horticulture, SamHigginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Allahabad for eight variety of bottle gourd [Lagenari asiceraria (Molina) Standl.], namely Anokhi, Varad, Amar-951, Sarita, BGPS-1, BGPL-2, BGPL-3, BGPL-4 were evaluated in randomized block designed in three replication during 2011. Minimum days to appearance of first male flower (42.17) and minimum days to appearance of first female flower were recorded with T1 (Anokhi). Best result in respect to the entire growth yield and yield parameters as well as the cost: benefit ratio were found with the variety Anokhi. This variety had found superior over all parametersdays first male flower anthesis, days first female flower anthesis, days to first harvest, fruit length, fruit weight in, fruit diameter, and fruit yield, Ascorbic acid were found superior over all other in relation to growth, yield floral parameters and economic returns for bottle gourd under the agro-climatic conditions of Allahabad.
