Extraction Pattern of Major Fractions of Humus From Sphagnum Peat By different Groups of Alkali Extractants.

Laboratory experiments conductedto study the extraction pattern of Humicacid, Fulvic acid and Humin obtained from sphagnum peat by using 0.2N KOH, 0.2N NaOH,0.2N Na₄P₂O₇ and 0.2NNa₂CO₃ alkali extractants at 1:100 ratio of peat and extractant concentration. The treatment having 0.2N NaOH and 0.2N KOH extracted 1.9% and 1.5% humic acid which are onparand significantly highest compared to other extractants. Regarding the fulvicacid extraction pattern the treatment having 0.2N NaOH extracted 7% from the source component, which is considered as the maximum. The maximum amount of humin at 12.6% from the source was extracted by 0.2N KOH.
