Abstract

Methods of mass and energy balance are adopted for evaluating the overall performance of energy conversion systems. In this paper mass and energy balance study of a Natural draft gasifier system have been reported. The gasifier was developed exclusively to produce thermal energy using arecanut husk as feedstock for arecanut processing industries. The results revealed that the mass balance study gave an overall performance of 82.5% and the energy balance study indicated 81% based on maximum heat output.
