Abstract

Loss in Finger millet [Eleusine coracana (L) Gaertn.] caused by foot rot disease (Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc.) is a major concern of finger millet growers worldwide. Foot rot is considered as the most injurious disease of finger millet in south Gujarat, resulting in severe loss especially to susceptible finger millet cutivars. The avoidable loss was estimated to be 27.40 per cent in grain yield and 23.31 per cent in fodder yield due to the foot rot disease. Thus, 77.62 per cent disease was controlled by protecting the plot by seed treatment with Trichoderma harzianum (Navsari isolate) @ 10 g/kg and soil application T. harzianum @ 1 kg/acre (Navsari isolate) multiplied in FYM @ 100 kg was applied at the time of weeding.
