Efficacy Enhancement of Clean Milk Production through Organized Cattle Farming

Clean milk production is essential to meet the stringent quality standards of modern dairy chain and is the biggest challenge for small holders as their production system does not follow clean milk production. Without the production of clean milk there is no use of maintaining high yielding cows and good feeding practices. But machine milking is not affordable to the small holder dairy farmers. Soorganized cattle farming ensures clean milk production by providing milking machine. Precious fodder is wasted if it is not chopped. So Chaff cutter usage has to be popularised. Chaff cutter has to be used not only for the green fodder but also for the paddy straw etc. Energy is one of the most important factors to global prosperity. Moreover, the recent rise in oil and natural gas prices may drive the current economy toward alternative energy sources such as biogas. Hence at the cattle care unit several waste like dung and other farm waste are utilized for bio gas production which is a renewable source of energy can be used for domestic kitchen purpose which will minimize electricity and LPG consumption. Gobar gaswas produced @160 kg LPG gas equivalent per month. Milk production cost per litre was decreased from Rs. 25/litre to Rs.20/litre. Microbial quality of milk from machine milking was superior in terms of one log reduction in initial total bacterial load.
