Abstract

The texture of the surface soil varied from loamy sand to sandy clay loam. In general, the soils were found to be acidic in reaction where as the EC was found normal range. The organic carbon content of the soils was low to high (2.77–27.81 g kg−1). The CEC of soils were varied from 11.21 to 16.81 c mol (p+) kg−1. The available iron, manganese, copper, zinc and boron were found to be 30.43 to 96.15 mg kg−1, 30.84 to 150.09 mg kg−1, 1.24 to 4.24 mg kg−1, 0.24 to 1.24 mg kg−1 0.10 to 0.72 mg kg−1 respectively. Available iron, copper and manganese was found sufficient in all soil samples while zinc was sufficient in 31 per cent and deficient in 69 per cent soil samples and available boron was found sufficient in 19 per cent and deficient in 81 per cent soil samples.
