Dietary Pattern and Prevalence of Anaemia Among Tribal Pregnant Women of Amirgadh Block

Abstract

Study was undertaken to know prevalence of anaemia among tribal pregnant women. 150 tribal pregnant women were selected randomly as subjects. Annual income of tribal was low and socio economic status was also found to be low. Obstetrical history indicated higher mortality rate and number of pregnancy were also higher among subjects. Dietary pattern indicated low consumption of iron rich foods and diet was also found poor in terms nutrition. Prevalence of anaemia was found higher among tribal pregnant women under different grades of anaemia. Socio economic status needs to uplift and also nutritional interventions programmes are needed to control iron deficiency anaemia.
