Influence of Different Sources and Levels of Phosphorus and Biofertilizer (PSB) on Yields, Quality, NPK Content and Economics of Isabgol (Plantago ovata Forsk)

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during rabi seasons of the year 2010–11 at College Agronomy Farm, B.A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat. Application of 30 kgP2O5 ha−1 from Single Super Phosphate (SSP) with Biofertilizer (PSB) was most effective for securing higher seed yield and yield attributes. The test weight of 1000 seeds and swelling factor were non-significant due to different sources and levels of phosphorus and biofertilizer (PSB). The nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content were also found nonsignificant due to different sources and levels of phosphorus and biofertilizer (PSB). The significantly maximum nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake of isabgol seed was observed under the treatment S2 (SSP) and treatment P2 (30 kg P2O5 ha−1) with I2 (Inoculated) (PSB) due to influence of different sources and levels of phosphorus and Biofertilizer (PSB) respectively, but in case of isabgol straw had non-significant response. The interaction effect was non-significant.
