Abstract

The picking-wise fruit weight (yield) data of 600 brinjal plants (Cv. JBGR-1) collected separately from uniformity trial were utilized to predict total brinjal yield (Ŷ) well in advance using first five pickings. The yield data of 600 basic units were grouped into 40 experimental plots (samples) each of 12 plants spaced at 90cm × 60cm in a single row of 7.2 m length being the optimum plot size (Shitap, 2011). The following models derived were based on the yield data of these 40 plots. where,

= predicted total yield, kg/plot of 12 plants,

X1 = yield of first picking,

X2 = yield of second picking,

X3 = yield of third picking,

X4 = yield of fourth picking,

X5 = yield of fifth picking,

X12345 = total yield of first, second, third, fourth and fifth pickings
