During the survey of digenetic trematode parasites of freshwater fishes, a new trematode species Allopodocotyle coitori sp. nov. was recovered from the intestine of freshwater fish Sciaena coitor (Ham.) from river Ganges in Patna (Bihar). This new species has been described in detail, discussed and compared with other species of Allopodocotyle of the family Opecoelidae Ozaki, 1925. It has been characterized by presence of protuberant ventral sucker, unlobed ovary, long slender undivided vesicula seminalis and marginal genital pore.
