Abstract

The effects of 12 vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculation on germination and growth of marigolds were studied in a pot experiment during 2012–13 in K. R. C. College of Horticulture, Arabhavi. Inoculation of different VAM fungus species effected the early germination, germination percentage and growth of plants i. e., shoot length, number of leaves, length of longest root, number of roots, root volume, root to shoot ratio, fresh shoot weight, fresh root weight as compared to control. Different VAM species showed different percent of root colonization higher root colonization was recorded with Gigaspora margarita in Local variety and Glomus mosseae in Double Orange variety.
