Cholesterol levels in body can be controlled by limiting dietary uptake and denovo synthesis of cholesterol. In familial hypercholesterolemia increased plasma cholesterol level suppresses the synthesis of LDL receptors resulting in excess of cholesterol in the blood to deposit in arteries which can lead to coronary heart diseases. Suppression of denovo synthesis of cholesterol by specific inhibitors of the STATIN family has proven to be successful. Statin inhibits the HMG-CoA reductase. This in turn lead to increased hepatic LDL receptor synthesis and accelerated clearance of circulating LDL resulting in a dose dependent reduction in plasma LDL cholesterol. Naturally produced statin have been shown to after primary and secondary cardiovascular disease and stroke prevention. all natural Statin posses a common polypeptides portion a hydroxyhexahydronapthalene ring synthesis, to which different chains are linked. Statin sequence can be obtained with help of bioinfor matics softwares (BLAST, FASTA, Gen Scan, Clustalw, Dotplot and Phylodendron) from different genera and species of other organisms and filamentous fungi which acts as natural source. Bioinformatics has developed in the wake of generation of amino acid sequences of protein and nucleotide sequences of DNA.
