Screening of Cocoa Genotypes Against Phytophthora Pod Rot Disease under Hot Tropical Condition of Tamil Nadu

Abstract

The different genotypes (17 Nos) of cocoa were screened against Phytophthora pod rot pathogen (Phytophthora palmivora) by artificial inoculation (Stab inoculation) on detached cocoa pods. Observations on pod infection were recorded at 4th, 5th and 8th day after inoculation. The results revealed that none of the cocoa genotypes screened exhibited resistance.
