Effect of Season on Success Percentage of Vegetatively Propagated Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) Clones Under Tamil Nadu Condition

Abstract

Studies on the propagation of cocoa by soft wood grafting and patch budding were conducted at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during 2012 to 2013. In soft wood grafting success was high during August (86.67 per cent) and it was on par with September (83.33 per cent) while very poor success was obtained from January to May (less than 45 per cent). In budding, maximum success was obtained during October and November; where as in March (40 per cent) the success percentage was low.
