Influence of Vermicompost, Phosphorus and PSB on Yield, Quality, Available Nutrients and Economics of Summer Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

Abstract

An experiment was conducted at S. D. A.U., Sardarkrushinagar on "Influence of vermicompost, phosphorus and PSB on yield, quality, available nutrients and economics of summer groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) " during summer 2012. The soil of experimental field was loamy sand in texture, low in organic carbon and available nitrogen, medium in available P2O5 and rich in K2O status. Application of RDN @ 125% through VC showed its superiority producing higher pod (2650 kg ha−1) and haulm yield (4633kg ha−1). With regard to protein content and oil yield, application of RDN @ 125% through VC ranked top and significantly built up N and P status of soil after harvest of crop. An application of phosphorus @ 50 kg P2O5 ha−1 recorded significantly higher pod (2824 kg ha−1) and haulm yield (4655 kg ha−1) over PSB only and 25 kg P2O5 ha−1. Phosphorus application @ 50 kg P2O5 ha 1 significantly improved oil yield and significantly higher protein content remaining at par with 25 kg P2O5 ha−1 + PSB. Similarly P status of the soil was built up due to phosphorus application @ 50 kg P2O5 ha−1 remaining at par with 25 kg P2O5 ha−1 + PSB. Maximum net realization of Rs. 1, 13, 056 ha−1 and CBR 4.49 was obtained from treatment combination V3P4 (125% RDN through vermicompost + 50 kg P2O5 ha−1). During the course of investigation, the treatment combiation of V×P was not influenced by the application of vermicompost and phosphorus.
