Marketing of Wheat in Etawah District of Uttar Pradesh

Abstract

The present study was conducted in Etawah district of U.P. It was based on the primary data collected from 100 respondents who were selected from 5 villages and 100 wheat growers (37 marginal, 28 small, 27 medium and 18 large) selected through random sampling method of Basrehar block in districts Etawah during Agricultural Year 2010–11. Sample farmers were selected and interviewed for collection of data. And two marketing channels i.e. (i) Producer – Wholesaler – Consumer, (ii) Producer – Govt. Agencies were prevalent for disposal of the wheat. Among two channels Ist was found most effective through which 64.49 per cent of total product was marketed but highest producer's share in consumer's rupee i.e. 96.87 per cent was recorded from the IInd channel and Ist was found. About 2.65%, 1.32% and 7.08% of consumer's price was shared by marketing cost, marketing margin and total price spread respectively while the producer's share in consumer's price was 92.92 per cent. And the marketing efficiency indicated an efficient channel for farmers to sell their produce.
