A set of 66 advance lines of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill] grown in a Randomized Block Design with three replication during the Kharif - 2012 at Pulse Research Station, N. M. College of Agriculture, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences among the genotypes studied, indicating sufficient amount of variability present in the material. The genotypic coefficient of variance was observed higher for the characters number of pods per plant, plant height and number of seeds per pod indicating that phenotypic selection would be effective for genetic improvement in these traits.
