Abstract

A study was undertaken to estimate the genetic variability for yield and yield attributing characters in finger millet. The study based on 35 genotypes received from Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Chhatisgarh. The phynotypic and genotypic variability were high for days to 50 per cent flowering, days to maturity, plant height and straw yield where medium for total fingers per plant and grain yield and low for number of tillers per plant, number of productive tillers per plant, fingers per main ear, ear head length and test weight.
