Economic Analysis of Jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) Cultivation in Allahabad District of Uttar Pradesh–India

The present research deals with the economic analysis of jatropha cultivation in Allahabad District. It concluded from the study that the average cost of cultivation was Rs. 14146.41 per ha. This was less than the different size groups. Rental value was higher due to cultivable field although jatropha plantation is not recommended in such type of lands yet jatropha cultivation was done at large area but the production per unit is very low due to rainfed condition, attack of pest and diseases at vegetative growth to fruit formation stage. It was observed that high yielding varieties, package and practices techniques are the main reason for low production. The over all cost of cultivation was increased with the increasing adoption techniques of jatropha cultivation. The overall return was decreased as B:C ratio indicated 1:1.14 in decreasing trend.
