Abstract

A number of 1-acetyl-3-(3, 5-di aryl)-5-(2-thienyl)-2-pyrazolines (HLI-HLVII) have been synthesized by aldol condensation followed by refluxing with hydrazine hydrate in presence of acetic acid/formic acid. The chromium(II) complexes of these ligands have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance and 1H NMR, IR and UV spectral data. The compounds and their chromium complexes were investigated for antimicrobial activity against fungi and bacteria. The complexes showed significant activity against both fungi as well as bacteria's.
