Abstract

The present investigation was conducted at Regional Horticultural Research and Extension Centre, UHS (Campus), GKVK, Bangalore during 2011–12 to standardize the spacing and nutrition for rose cv. Charisma. The experiment was replicated thrice with two factorial randomized complete block design with 12 treatment combinations comprising of three different plant density viz., S1 (0.75 x 0.75 m), S2 (1.50 × 1.00 m) and S3 (1.80 × 1.00 m) and four levels of nutrient viz., N1 (20:20:30 g NPK/plant), N2 (30:30:45 g NPK/plant), N3 (40:40:60 g NPK/plant) and N4 (50:50:75 g NPK/plant). It was found that plant density S2 (1.50 × 1.00 m) and application of nutrient levels N2 (30:30:45 g NPK/plant) showed superiority in the growth and yield attributes viz., maximum plant height (70.57 cm), maximum number of flowers per plant (123.78) and highest yield per plant (0.83 kg). While, plant density S1 (0.75 × 0.75 m) and nutrient levels N1 (20:20:30 g NPK/plant) was noticed minimum plant height (50.73 cm), lowest number of flowers per plant (85.92) and minimum yield per plant (0.39 kg). While, plant density S1 (0.75 × 0.75 m) and nutrient levels N4 (50:50:75 g NPK/plant) was recorded maximum yield per hectare (10.83) and it was minimum (2.74) in S3 (1.80 × 1.00 m) and N1 (20:20:30 g NPK/plant).
