Genetic Analysis for of Heterotic Crosses in Table Pea (Pisum sativum L.)

Abstract

The genetic analysis showed that additive component (D) was predominant for days to flowering, days to maturity and pod length, where as dominance components (H1 and H2) were greater than additive for remaining characters. Average degree of dominance was partial for days to flowering and maturity while over dominance was observed for remaining traits. The positively significant values of h2 further revealed the positive direction of dominant genes for controlling majority of the characters. At least one or more than one group of dominant genes was found active for controlling few characters.

Cross combinations KS226/Azad P1, KPMR184/KS136, KS225/Azad P3, KS195/KS226, KS195/Azad P3 and KS136/KS225 showed more than 50% economic heterosis for green pod yield over Azad P1 (economic parent).
