With a view to study the effect of inoculum size on rate of multiplication during in vitro micropropagation of sugarcane variety CoSe 01235, the inoculums of different sizes were subcultured on MS liquid shoot multiplication medium at 15 days interval. The results showed that the cumulative number of shoots and average shoot length produced at the end of 4th cycle was highest in cultures raised from inoculums of smallest size (containing 2 shoots). The results clearly indicated that subculturing withsmall sized propagules proved to be beneficial for enhanced multiplication of shoot cultures.
