Rotary Atomizers Nozzle Characteristics for Motorized Knapsack Mist Blower

Abstract

A study has been carried out of the rotary atomizer used as a nozzle of motorized knapsack mist blower. The experiment are carried out with commercially available motorized knapsack mist blower in a controlled condition, that is a poly house of 5 x 10m size for the measurement of droplet size under different orifice sizes and engine speeds.. The droplet images were digitalized by Dino-Lite Premier AM7013MT digital hand held microscope with a 5 megapixel sensor including Dino capture 2.0 software was used to capture the pictures, record and also annotate on images. If the orifice size increases from 1.5 to 6.0 mm the discharge rate also increases from 546 ml min−1 to 1464 ml min−1 at 4500 rpm and 486 ml min−1 to 1404 ml min−1 at 6000 rpm. The engine speed increases from 4500 to 6000 rpm the discharge rate will be decreases from 546 to 486 ml min−1 at 1.5 mm orifice size and 1464 to 1404 ml min−1 at 6.0 mm orifice size. The NMD for different combinations of orifices sizes of 1.5 to 6.0 mm, were the droplet size increased from 15 to 20 mm respectively. The data shows that the engine speed at 5500 rpm, the maximum droplet size (VMD) obtained between the range of 82.2 to 105.5 mm with increasing the orifice sizes of 1.5 to 6.0 mm. The uniformity coefficient will be increased from 4.1 to 5.4 ml min−1 at 1.5mm orifice size and 4.1 to 4.5 ml min−1 at 6.0 mm orifice size.
