Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to study the seasonal incidence and management of leaf roller (Hedylepta indicata) in green gram. The incidence of leaf roller was noticed initially on1st week of January and the peak incidence was observed on 28th January with 25.4 per cent damage leaf and thereafter the incidence of leaf roller declined gradually upto 3rd week of February and then at a faster rate. The effect of environmental factors on the incidence of leaf roller revealed that both maximum and minimum temperature as well as wind velocity produced significant negative correlation(r=-0.589, -0.673 and-0.544 respectively) on the leaf roller incidence. Among the six treatments evaluated under field conditions, cartap hydrochloride was found to be the most effective insecticide in controlling leaf roller (3.84 per cent damage leaf) closely followed by spinosad (5.54 per cent damage leaf) as against 19.04 per cent damage leaf in control.
