The field experiment was conducted during kharif 2013 to study the Effect of pre and post emergent herbicides on growth, yield parameter and weed control efficiency in maize (Zea mays L.). The experiment was carried out in College of Agriculture and Horticultural Sciences (UAHS), Shimoga. There were ten treatments comprising of Tembotrione 42 SC at 100 g a. i. ha−1, Tembotrione 42 SC at 110 g a. i. ha−1, Atrazine 50 WP at 1000 g a. i. ha−1, 2, 4-D Na salt 80% WP at 1000 a. i. ha−1, Tembotrione 42 SC at 100 g a. i. ha1 + Atrazine 50 WP at 1000 g a. i. ha−1, Atrazine 50 WP at 1000 g + 2, 4-D Na salt 80% WP at 1000 g a. i. ha−1, Atrazine 50 WP at 1000 g a. i. ha−1fb Tembotrione 42 SC at 100 g a. i. ha−1, Atrazine 50 WP at 1000 g a. i. ha−1 + inter-cultivation, Weedy check and Weed free check. Significantly water use efficiency, nitrogen use efficiency, phosphorus use efficiency and potassium use efficiency were recorded in application of Tembotrione 42 SC at 100 g a.i. ha−1 + Atrazine 50 WP at 1000 g a.i. ha1 (9.16, 39.20, 178.28 and 176.44), Atrazine 50 WP at 1000 g a.i. ha−1 (9.10, 38.98, 177.17 and 175.42), Atrazine 50 WP at 1000 g + 2, 4-D Na salt 80% WP at 1000 g a.i. ha−1 (9.04, 38.69, 175.80 and 174.12) and Atrazine 50 WP at 1000 g a.i. ha−1fb Tembotrione 42 SC at 100 g a.i. ha−1 (8.98, 38.45, 174.77 and 173.04) and without any residual effect on succeeding Green gram crop.
