A field experiment was carried out comprised of 8 parents, 28 hybrids produced through half-diallel in a randomized block design with 3 replications during kharif season of 2013–14. Among 8 parents, two parents viz., AOL10-8 and Arka Abhay were observed as good general combiners for pod yield plant−1. In addition topod yield, parent VRO 6 was also observed as good general combiner for traits like internodal length, number of branches plant−1, pod length and stalk length. Arka Abhay was also observed as good general combiner for traits like number of pod plant1, pod yield plant−1, stalk length and dietary fiber content at marketable stage. The parent Parbhani Kranti observed as good combiner for traits like number of pod plant−1, stem diameter, pod diameter, stalk length, vitamin-C content. The crosses identified as high SCA effects for pod yield also had high SCA effects for at least one major yield components like number of pod plant−1, number of branches, pod weight etc.
