Abstract

The present investigation conducted with 21 F1s developed through half diallel by using seven okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench.) genotypes namely, Parbhani Kranti (P1), Parbhani Bhendi (P2), Pusa A-4 (P3), Punjab-8 (P4), Arka Bahar (P5), IC 3137A (P6) and IC 282273 (P7) in randomized block design with two replications. Parents IC-282273 (P7), Punjab-8 (P4) and Parbhani Kranti (P1) were found good combiners and have high SCA effects for most of the characters. By considering overall performance the crosses P2 x P4 (Parbhani Bhendi x Punjab-8), P2 x P7 (Parbhani Bhendix IC-282273), P3 x P7 (Pusa A4 xIC-282273) and P1 x P5 (Parbhani Kranti x Arka Bahar) could be effectively exploited for heterosis breeding programme.
