Abstract

The study was undertaken to find out the suggestions offered by the tribal women of Nilgiris district. Self Help Groups were evaluated, in terms of their suggestions in relation to their participation in Self Help Groups. The study revealed that enhancing the loan amount, problems faced by SHG members should be regularly attended to and given solutions, information on banking and marketing aspects should be given including marketing facilities, low interest rate for long-term credit facilities, exhibition for displaying SHG products, purchase of SHG products through government sources and marketing arrangements at the taluk and district level were the major suggestions as revealed by majority of the tribal women.
