Abstract

Climate change is the change in meteorological conditions and pattern which isreported globally over long period of time. These changes have great significant effects on all natural processes. Agriculture which is dependent on climate and its variability hence it is appropriate to study the impacts of climate variability oncrop production. Temperature, precipitation & climatic productivity are expressed by using Thornthwaite Memorial Model for Coimbatore district as a representative example. Analysing the temperature & precipitation data for thirty two years to study the impacts of climate change on crop production of the study area. Comparison between the model results and the actual crop yield shows that model estimation for crop productivity gives better result for high precipitation values than the temperature values.
